Why Alpine, Texas? Located within the heart of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine, Texas, is home to one of the most pristine dark sky locations in the United States. Designated as a Dark Sky Preserve, this region offers crystal-clear skies, minimal light pollution, and breathtaking views of the Milky Way, constellations, and celestial events. It’s the perfect place to capture the beauty of the night sky and deepen your understanding of astrophotography.
What You’ll Experience:
- Capturing the Milky Way: Learn how to shoot the Milky Way in its full glory, with guidance on camera settings, composition, and the best times to shoot. We’ll help you capture this awe-inspiring galaxy, creating images that highlight the rich detail of stars, nebulae, and other celestial features.
- Mastering Star Trails: Discover the art of photographing star trails as the Earth’s rotation creates long streaks of light across the sky. - Expert Instruction: Whether you’re just starting out with night photography or looking to refine your skills, our experienced instructors will guide you through every step. You’ll receive personalized coaching on settings, techniques, and post-processing tips to take your astrophotography to the next level.
- Stunning Desert Landscape Backdrops: The desert landscape around Alpine offers the perfect foregrounds for your night sky images, including rugged mountains, desert plants, and wide-open vistas. The interplay of natural elements with the vast, starry sky creates endless creative opportunities.
- Photographing Celestial Events: Depending on the timing of your workshop, you may also have the chance to photograph meteor showers, planetary alignments, and other awe-inspiring celestial events.

Workshop Breakdown:
- Day 1 (Introductory Night):This night is dedicated to beginners, focusing on the fundamentals of Milky Way and Star Trails photography. Whether you're new to astrophotography or looking to refine your skills, we’ll cover the basics, including equipment setup, camera settings, and shooting techniques to help you capture the beauty of the night sky.
- Day 2 & 3 (Intermediate Sessions):For those looking to take their astrophotography to the next level, our subsequent nights are packed with more advanced techniques, personalized guidance, and opportunities to experiment with different shooting styles and compositions.
Sessions can Customized
We’ve tailored our workshop sessions to fit your needs and schedule. While most of our workshops span three days/nights, we offer flexible options: you can reserve the entire weekend, opt for just two days, or even book a single day.
This flexible approach ensures that you get the most out of the workshop, no matter your level of experience.
Deposit: $300 required for both two day and full weekend options.
Package includes daily transportation, full time guiding and instruction. Participates are responsible for their travel to the meeting location.
Booking deposit becomes non-refundable 120 days before the tour. The remaining balance is due by (pending date), 2026. For cancellation 60-90 days before the trip, a 50% refund will be issued. Refunds are not available for cancellation 59 days or less prior to trip departure.
